Be Still and Know that I am God

Posted by sibbia on November 6, 2007

It is said that these words from the basis to self-realization, simply be still and know that I am God.

How many times today have you stilled your thoughts, your actions, your mind?  How many times have you stopped to realize there is a God?

I understand that for many the words “God” and “religion” have great negativity associated with them.  They want nothing to do with anything dealing with either.  They may consider themselves spiritual but, for many reasons, uncomfortable with the standard trappings of organized religions.

Conversely, you will find many deeply entrenched in their particular religious organization.  After years of the same view, studying the same material and nuturing the same ideas, their mindset becomes rather myopic and they develop the tendency to reject anything that’s not part of or promoted by their religious group.

What we need to have is the ability to really see for ourselves what is true.  To have access to wonderful, profound teachings, and a spiritual community to support us, while we learn for ourselves who and what God is, and as the result of this, who and what we are.

Practices, such as meditation, that allow this kind of inner knowing are free of ties to a particular religion.  They are interfaith and can be used by all.  After all, we were told simply, “Be still and know that I am God.”

You Are God!

Posted by sibbia on July 18, 2007

I’ll say it again, you are God.  How can I make such an audacious claim?  Many of us recognize that the divine force is part of everything and resides in us as well, and yet don’t seek out the realization of that perfect divinity.

They may accept Jesus Christ as the son of God, without realizing that we are all sons and daughters of God, or remembering that Jesus said that we were to go forth and create even bigger works (miracles).  To the average man, this is an impossible, ludicrous statement.  Yet I remind you that we are made in God’s image and likeness and we are all an expression of only one divine force.

We are as the waves on top of the ocean — made in its image and likeness but lacking its full power and realization until we merge back to the source from which we came.  When we focus on God and God-like behavior, we are beginning that process of reconnection, for we have been surely told, “draw closer to God, and God draws closer to you.”

The highest aim of this blog is to help us realize and express our divinity.  This is the answer to any question we face, and the supply to our every need.  Everything I write, design, create and photograph is meant to inspire the very best in our nature.  Sharing and providing service to others helps strengthen my commitment to bringing light into world (starting with myself).

The more we recognize our own divinity, the stronger our faith becomes.  Fears vanish and our lives become more harmonious as we transcend the ego and align ourselves with the divine.

Piercing the veil of illusion that makes us believe we are seperate individuals removes selfishness and competition from our hearts and we being to understand our collective power.

Is this some lofty, difficult goal?  No.  Must we run off to the mountain top to meditate for ten years, forsaking all worldly concerns?  No, for how would we be of any use to others then?  When faced with a challenge, a crisis, temptation, dilemma… say to yourself simply:

Only that which is true of God is true of me for God and I are one.

Let this thought guide you, ask what God would do in that situation and do your best to behave in the same manner.  In that instance, you have reached toward God and God reaches back toward you.

There is only one thought that comes through me to share with everyone today and that is:

You Are God!

I am the artist; I am the Creator, and my life is as divine as I make it.

See it, believe it, achieve it.

Creating Spiritual Surroundings

Posted by sibbia on June 22, 2007

This is from today’s daily word. It is a message we could all stand to hear repeated time and time again. Many things our on spiritual path are like that. We’ve heard the message before, understand it, even believe it, but they’ve failed to make a lasting impression on how we live our lives. The ideas have failed to move from the province of belief and intellectual understanding to a deeper knowing that guides our actions.

One way to make spiritual principles a constant part of your life is to make them a constant part of your day. Listen to and read motivational messages, surround yourself with love, beauty and nature whenever possible, spend a moment to recite a few affirmations, say a prayer and contemplate your spiritual beliefs and goals. Above all, develop strong friendships with others who share your goals and beliefs; they will sustain you.

This blog is meant to help us begin to accomplish that. In that vein, here is a message that has helped me today. May it provide inspiration for you as well.

Divine Order

With a peaceful mind and a faith-filled heart, I trust God for right results.

With trust in God, I let go of any apprehension about what might happen today and accept bright, new possibilities. I relax knowing that divine order is unfolding.

Everything necessary for this day to be a success is coming together. Each person involved is inspired to contribute in positive and meaningful ways. Harmony, peace, and mutual respect are evident in every interaction. The activities of this day flow smoothly and bring about exceptional results.

As the day progresses, I may require an extra measure of reassurance and strength. Restating my daily affirmation helps me realign my perspective with thoughts of divine order. Placing my trust in God for right outcomes, I participate in the activities that are mine to complete today.

“He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure.”— 2 Samuel 23:5

Remember that seeing is believing and believing is achieving. When you read these words, take a moment to picture the truth of them in your mind’s eye. See it, believe it, achieve it.
